Men's Health
"There is a silent health crisis in America...it's that fact that, on average, American men live sicker and die younger than American women."
David Gremillion, MD, FACP

Sexual health is just a part of the over-all health of men. It is important to realize that men have many health needs.
In 2001 the life expectancy of males was 5.4 years younger than that of females. Men had higher death rates for every one of the top ten leading causes of death (Men's Health Network, 2003).
In 2001, the top causes of death were heart disease, cancer, injury, and stroke.
Why are men at high risk?
Numbers show that a higher percentage of men have no health care coverage, so fewer males than females are regularly seeing doctors. Men partake in more high-risk behaviors, both in occupations and in lifestyle. These life decisions lead to more serious health consequences. Don't be discouraged though, the future of men's health is in our hands.
There are many different steps that can be taken to promote healthy living. A healthy diet, and some stress management tactics are a good place to start. Counselors are very helpful in assisting men with time management and goal setting, which helps to cut down on stress levels in our lives.

Testicular Health is Important for Young Males
Testicular cancer made headline news when the professional cyclist, Lance Armstrong, was diagnosed in 1996.
Testicular cancer is the number one cancer causing death among males 13-35.
Proper regular testicular self-exams can lead to early detection and successful treatment. Testicular cancer has one of the highest cure rates (90%).
To learn more about testicular health and how to conduct a self-exam, schedule a M.A.R.S. appointment.
